Default Cobalt 454 problems?

So in my quest for the ultimate scaler motor, I ditched my 8turn scorpion 380 powerhouse because it doesn't "crawl" very well, but it goes, thats for certain.

So I installed a Holmes 454 cobalt. Two cells is ok, 3 cells is pretty good, but now 4cells is what I am talking about!!!! Its a rocket on 4 cells. And still crawles pretty good for a heavy scaler.

Its always ran hot, So I installed a fan directly connected to the battery pack. So the higher the voltage pack, the faster the little fan runs.

Amazing how cool the motor is now. Its mainly just warm to the touch.

Today I ran two 2200mah 2s packs in series. Ran it hard, doing constant hill climbs for 35minutes straight. At the end of the run it was hot, but not as hot as it used to run on just 2s without a fan.

So my question is, has anyone had any problems running 4 cells through a 454 cobalt motor? Or do you think there could be potential problems if I keep running it on 4 cells?

Thanks

John runs the 454 in his Berg @ 7.4V. Those 454's run hot anyways so I would say your going to smoke it! If your running your batteries in series I would say BAD IDEA!!!!! If your running 2 7.4 packs in series then your sending 14.8V to the motor On his 7T pullers he only recommends a 40amp 11.1V lipo. If you were running the 2 packs in parallel then you would be ok. This is just my opinion and doesn't mean poop but makes since to me! Post your question in the Holmes Hobbies help thread and see what John says Then post up in here and tell us what he said!

if i were you i would tear the motor apart and inspect the com. you probably have some serious burn marks. and yes JRH recommends you not exceed a 3cell to prolong the life of the motor.

I told him on the phone he's going to kill it, my guess being the motor just wasn't made to turn that fast.
