Default DX3S 4th Channel?

Hey guys. Been wanting to get a crawler for years and finally made my purchase this weekend from TCS.(Very Excited)
I asked this on RCU a couple days ago with no response, so figured I'd come ask the people who seem to think outside the box a bit more.

I have a DX3S that I use for my other trucks and just can't get over not using the remote start feature for anything. So I had the idea that maybe I could use it as a channel for something like a dig unit. You can select to use the RS on either the AUX(3rd channel) or the Bind port on the rx.

I have already done some testing with it, and found if I plug a servo into the bind port after the radio and receiver are powered on, I CAN contol the servo with just a full off/full on type of deal. BUT if I power it on while the servo is already connected to the Bind port, the rx seems to go into bind mode for some reason and cant control anything.

So here is my questions;
Do you guys think it would be worth the time to try and set this up so I could do something like a dig and a 4WS?
Since there is no trim, EPA, etc for the RS. would it be terribly difficult to adjust it all with hardware?
And do any of you know a way to power the unit up with a servo already in the Bind port without it wanting to Bind?

Would Mucho appreciate any kind of advise, since I would really love to get this going. and sorry if the post is excessively long.

once the bind port is used for Bind, you can use the bind port as a battery port. I used my DX3S when I had it for a 2 position 3rd channel DIG. I decided to just move on to the DX3R instead.
