Default Novak mongoose in a 2.2?

Has anyone tried this yet? The rig will weigh about 5lbs and ran on 3s lipo. I'm thinking it will be ok but just want to see if anyone has tried this.

Maybe... I've run a 380 sized outrunner motor on a very light 2.2 rig with a Quark 33A ESC on 3S. It worked pretty good, but it lacked torque and required creative driving to avoid any serious binds. Is the mongoose capable of handling 3S? What's the amp rating on that ESC? I would think the ESC would get pretty darn hot if not overload completely. I ran mine with both the Quark and a Castle Mamba-25. Both got very warm; especially the Mamba. I could barely keep my finger on it for 3 seconds. Gonna need to run an external BEC as well.

I tried it once, didn't go that well, motor got "super hot" under any sort of bind or big load. For cruising it's fine though.

Was this in a ax10? If so what gearing were you running and did you use a bec?

The BEC has "nothing" to do with the motor overheating.

It was geared 87/12

Yes it was an AX10

I was just checking if the bec was needed with that esc. I guess that plan is out the door:?
