| It's late, I need help and my head hurts. From the good and bad way.
As you can see it's very late by the post timer and I am just about out of ideas and what I did wrong or didn't do. I just got a DX3R and I bound it to 2 of my rigs (My Comp Rig and Good-ol-Stampde) When I did that I noticed that the rigs were running backwards. Froward was reverse and vice versa. But when I switched them via the DX3R, forward was forward and reverse was reverse, but the motors are now running backwards, so it seems. Both rigs run fast off the line in reverse, but slow as hell, forward. Did I miss something or am I just crazy? Please help!? |

When you install a new radio you have to "redo" the ESC's Setup procedures to calibrate them to the new Radio........ THat's a super common mistake, so you shouldn't feel bad, but it's also super basic. |

Thanks for the info. Now how would I got about reprograming a Traxxas XL5? I thought I did it right by setting it to the forward/brade/reverse at 100%... My other one is a tekin, so I know I can make more adjustments with that esc. | |

Well I re-did the set up on the esc and and it's still running backwards. I don't see why I would have to rewire the motor. (that's what the tekin touble shooting said) It worked fine with my moded Traxxas TQ3 radio. I wonder if I have to rebind it? I'll try that, I'm lost if that doesn't work. |

some times you have to switch the polarity on the motor and adjust the normal /reverse switch on the radio (or both) to get it to work smoothly.

Blast! I didn't want to go that route, but if I must, then I must. So I'm guessing on a brushless motor it doesn't matter.:?

With Crawlers the tranny can sometimes dictate how the motor needs to spin. Normally, a motor will go Counter Clockwise in forward, this is how the ESC should be setup on the motor. So first you'll need to just connect power to the motor (battery) with the positive and negative connected correctly. Figure out if the motor's going the right way first and foremost. Then roll the truck forward. Look at the spur, it should go Clockwise for it to work with a normal rotation motor. If that's the case, you should be able to connect the motor correctly to the ESC, then do the ESC's programming and be done. If something else is going on, you'll have to figure out how to make it so that forward from the ESC makes the motor go forwards. Your ESC sounds like it has a limited reverse and your running the truck/motor forward with the reverse action of the ESC. That or the setup isn't going like it's supposed to and the ESC isn't getting full reverse. If you can't figure it out, call Jake's performance hobbies tomorrow and I'll walk you through it all. |
