| Battery doesn't work
Howdy, i recently assembled a GP3300 pack with i believe Team Orion Bones connectors and it wont work. I plugged it up to my charger and it read 7.5 volts so i threw it in my T2. Turned on just fine, turned fine, but when i hit the throttle it died. What could be my problem? It was my first time ever building a battery. All help will be appreciated.

Were the cells new? Any way to get a pic of it?

A fully-charged 6-cell pack should read about 9v. Maybe you've got a bad cell, or a bad connection between 2 of the cells. I've had the same problem with one cell dying. The pack measures a bit low on a volt meter, and seems to power the model OK. As soon as I hit the throttle, it cuts out. Metering each individual cell, one was down at about 1.2v, the rest were at 1.5v. Under load, the "low" cell dropped down to nothing. A bad joint (high resistance dry joint) on one of the bars or the wires will have the same effect - a small current will flow to arm the ESC and work the servo, but hit the throttle and not enough current can pass to power the motor. The voltage drops, and the ESC and Rx switch off. Try re-soldering all the connections. |

this may sound dumb but from what you wrote it doesnt sound like you charged it, but only used the charger to check the voltage. because fully charged should be 8.5v-9v area

I 3rd the "sounds like your battery's arn't charged" since you plugged them in the charger, why not let them charge for a bit... |

Nimh sometimes give false readings on mutimeter where they show 7.4 volts or higher but when put under load they drop down to less than 6 volts. this means that one of the cells is bad. check each one to see if they have all have 1.2-1.4 volts

Thanks guys. I think one of my problems might be a little too much solder on the batteries, i heard that can cause them to not work right. Ill try later on tonight to put it together and try and get some pics up. Jeremy |

Alright, i re soldered and it stills doesnt work, but if i apply pressure to the bars i can get 7.76 volts? Are the bars not grounded good enough or do i just need to break down and buy a new battery? Sorry if its a dumb question, like i said its my first time to build a battery.
