Try and get the owners manual. They can be kind of intimadating at first, but are EZ to setup once you get used to the menus.I LOVE my DX3R

Check the serial #, here is the spectrum site that explains the issue and what # to look for and were to find them.http://www.spektrumrc.com/Articles/A...ArticleID=1784

Also if it is the SR3100 reciever make sure the antenna has not been cut. here is the link explaining that issue. http://www.spektrumrc.com/Articles/A...ArticleID=1780

Hope it works out for ya. I love mine

If the owner doesn't have the manual, they can be found on the Spektrum website...

I've had mine over a year now with no issues. I have used it for off road clay track, off road bashing, on road speed car, drifting, and now for crawling.

I love how light it is and everything it can be programmed to do. Half of my drift cars tuning is through the radio.

If the rx is a 3100 and the antenna has been cut you can get a replacement for $6 on horizon hobby. I had one get sheared in half in a high speed impact and have done that replacement.

you can ask how the range is.....

had mine for about 8 months and went only about 50 yards. I didnt care because all i had was my crawler. got a slash, needed range. (Spektrum is taking care of it tho, sent it in 2 weeks ago, a new unit is on the way back-at least thats what they said)

ask him for the serial and check to see if its one of the "defective" ones.
