Question speed control and motor help

I'm new to electric rc and I have decided on geting a AX10 ARTR. I need a motor and speed control for the kit but i'm not sure on what to get. I have been around nitro for some time so eletric is very alien to me ,any help with this would be very helpful.

Novack rooster crawling esc and motor combo is a nice start....for a novice in crawling..... here's the link....

or a Tekin FXR esc/motor combo.....

p.s. I run the modified ax-10 with rooster crawling esc with a 45 turn and CC bec with 1500 3s lipo with a dna dig. Very happy with this combo.

I have also have a Novak Rooster Crawler combo, and it works great for me. Only real downfalls are the 2s lipo/7 cell nimh voltage limit and doesnt do brushless motors.

I have read a lot of great thing about the fxr esc. I also like the Castle Creations Mamba Max and Sidewinder esc. They are 3 cell lipo and brushless capable. It all depends on what features you need and want to spend.

both choices are really good and with exceptional drag brakes but if youre planning to go lipo and up to 3s then you have to stick with fxr since rooster is only suitable up to 2s lipo..

I'm running 1500 3s lipos on my rooster crawler with no plm... but i got the esc for cheap anyway, no big deal if it goes poof... Basically running it until I gather some extra bucks for FXR.

You're right about that but if you bought it brand new, its risky and it could definitely void the warranty.

The Tekin FXR combo from Stormer Hobbies for $99.99 gets my vote.

The FX series escs have most of the programming easily accessible with the two push buttons on the case and no flashing color sequences to count. The FXR can be tuned even more if you pick up a Hotwire and it comes with some of the best customer service you will ever receive.

With the Hotwire you can keep updating your esc with the newest software from Tekins website.

Novak's new Goat 3S (for brush or brushless motors) is offered with the necessary, external BEC module included.
