Cool ESC for twin brushed or brushless motors

Hi all.

New to the forum and after a long break I am getting back in to R/C with my son..

I am modifing an old Kyosho Double Dare to bring it in to the new millenium.

So far I have modified the diff set ups to use decent dogbones and axles and replaced the rubbish shockies with some decent oil filled coil overs.

Next stop is the motors and speed controller. The set up is old school with a motor in each diff.
Can I run 2 x motors (Brushed HPI 550 or brushless 27T) with a single ESC. I thought about running a HPI GT speed controller but dont really want to run double batteries due to weight.

Probably easier to buy new but the modify is part of the fun.

Any views on the Hobbywing E Z run stuff on Ebay (Motors and ESC's)

Any ideas would be great.
