Default Schottky Diodes

How do you identify a schottky diode? All examples I can find have them in a black barrel form.

I have a set of diodes from a motor I bought a while ago and I want to make sure they are not schottky so I don't fry my Rooster.

What is the difference between a schottky diode and a zener diode? It seems like they pretty much do the same thing.

OK, I think I have spent too much time in the sun... dunno why I confused the two... I just quickly ran through the Rooster's manual and for some reason my brain latched on to the schotty diode and made the connection to the cap... It should have triggered something when I looked up the schottkys and the form-factor was different.

Thanks for the slap... I needed that, and thanks for the info on the different types of diodes.

you shouldnt be running shotky's (however you plural it) on crawlers or any reverse esc anyway, their polarized and will pop first time you reverse.
