GREAT servo, great price... Replacement parts from hitec 5995 go right on, so when you break a case or whatnot there is support out there to replace things.

I agree on the CS 170, but for a buget, they Hitec 645 is good also. For less than $40.00 you get a metal geared servo with moderate power.

the cs-170 or any hi-tec servo is a great pic ive only stripped 1 gear in a hi-tec 645 after 6 monthes of daily use, but other than that ive never had a problem with any hi-tec product!

Still a bit spendy, but here is a very strong servo at an introductory price. not sure how long the intro price will last.

it seems a expensive but a great investment. 30 or 40 dollar servos add up when you keep breaking them... 40 + 40 + 40 + 40............

Just got my 7950tg, and it sure is nice. Hopefully the gears are stronger than those on the jr ds8711. I stripped my jr gears twice in my savage. (with a loose saver)

I was looking at that servo--and I don't quite understand the "upgrades" to it.

http://servocity.com/html/hs-7950tg_servo.html

Ok it states you can upgrade for 90 degrees to 180 degrees. I have never heard of a servo being restricted...

Also states you can upgrade to "counterclockwise". WTF--does it only turn one way

For a $10 difference between the cs-170 and the Hitec 7995tg I could see no reason to get the "cheap" one. Go Hitec.

I also have gone through 3 $40 servos.

You can program it for more travel. The older 5955 was a 90* travel servo while the 5995 was a 180* travel servo, programmed that way from the factory, but they could be reprogrammed to whatever you want. Most servo's will only travel 90* when powered up, but 180* if you turn them by hand with no power to them.
If you don't have EPA's on your radio, you could essentially program the servo to travel only as far as you wanted with the programmer, along with several other things like deadband width, etc..

I had just never seen those "custom" specs when I have ordered a servo before..
