Default Novak Fifty-Five

Looking to replace my motor, is the Novak Fifty-Five a good replacement for an AX10? Any advice?

good motor but they dont last too long. Best money spent is to bust a bit more for the good quality HH handwounds or one of the JP warriors. If you are on a tight budget try one of the integy lathe motors. Never ran one but heard they are a good motor for your money.

depends on what you want to do.
i would put a 35 turn in my rig.
thats just me though.

the 55 isnt a bad motor though for just cruising around.

Well I have the stock 27T motor now and seems too fast, even with the 14T pinion. Not a very smooth or precise motor.

Yep! Inexpensive and a decent quality. But if you want to step it up? Go with the HH 35T or 45T hand wound.

We offer both 45 and 55 turn brush motors. They are 27.00.

its a decent motor. I ran one for a few months and now it's sitting in my hobby drawer. I got tired up the 55t wheelspeed. I changed the brushes and it ran great! but not enough for me. 55t wheelspeed IMO is a good motor for a beginner. You can get a higher turn motor to act like a 55t if you have your rig geared right.

55t is tooo slow of a motor--no matter how many volts you run thru it IMO...

I had the Novak 55, great motor and it does matter how many volts you put in it. It gave me my money worth. Daily use at the beach for almost a year.

Im using a cheap intgey 45t. and I like the wheelspeed it gives me with 17-81 gearing. It could use a little more torque though. Im gonna turn it on a com lathe and put better brushes in it and I think that will give me the tourqe Im after, for now anyway. I think the future holds a HH 10t cobalt puller for me.

i know this is kind of a newbie question and for that i apologize but what do the turns on a motor mean and how do they affect wheel speed, wheel torque, etc.?

the higher the turn number, the less wheel speed and more torque. The lower the turn number, the faster the motor is. SO a 65t is slow as fawk , while a 10t would be batshit crazy fast.

I've never used one of his pullers, but I have seen one run and it was an awesome motor. It's very strong though, so you have to make sure that your tranny and axle internals can take the punishment. HH makes some good STRONG motors.

from hh.com
"You can't find a more powerful brushed motor for your crawler. You get insane wheelspeed, and the finest slow speed control. All in one motor! "
