| Dont see many 65+ turm motors
Will be picking up a set of brushed motors in the near future, so starting my research. I noticed a lot seem to like the 55 turn range and some go for 65 turns's. But doing a little looking around I see there are 75's and even 85+ out there. Is there any reason not to use these higher turn motors? is it just a personal preference, competition rules, or just good old fashion practicality?? thanks for the help! --B |

Unless you plan on running 4s+ I recommend 35t-45t range on 3s lipo. Anything more than a 55t is going to be losing races against snails. You will need really high voltage batts to get them going anywere. Kieren |

yeah, a 65t on 3 cells is too slow to make a dig work properly, and not enough wheel speed for the slippery stuff. I like the v10 55t. never had a fancy hand wound.

My 45t has way more torque than I need, and I get over an hour run time on my little 1500 MaH 3s packs. So I don't see much need for anything higher.

Had tried 60t motor, i think it's too slow to use on rock crawler. But if you run scale rig it's fine. Now i'm back to 55t motor and looking for 45t or 35t |

55t seems like the sweet spot, the higher turn motors seem slower without a whole lot more torque. The majority of torque production comes from the can and magnets.

65t+ are more for scale driving speed good for making really scale vids, but 35t,45t,and 55t seem to be the most popular for scalers and crawlers. I use the 45t integy's for scale since they are cheap and easy to maintain but just recently bought some 55t's which are nice on any pinion in the 12t-19t range. |

27 to 35 turn is best for a scale truck, you need more speed and not nessecarily as much torque (Or the perfect scale motor, a Holmes Hobbies 7t Cobalt Puller. Speed and torque in one package) You're seeing a lot of guys use the lower turn motors in comp rigs lately due to the recent advances in the latest ESC's from manufacturers like Tekin and Castle Creations that have incorporated tons of almost infinitely adjustable parameters that you adjust via your PC, and hence have waaaay more adaptability than the old standby ESC's from 2-3 years ago. So guys are using lower turn motors for greater wheelspeed and the new ESC's still give them the low-end control they need... | ||

My scx needs to move fast enough to get away from my dog. Hence a 35t with 3s lipo. Drunk |

| This is what I found as well. The gains in torque from 55T to 65T did not seem to be noticable but the loss in wheelspeed sure was.
