| lipo ?'s
I just got a apogee lipo 2cell, 7.4V, 2200mah battery and need help understanding how to charge it. i also got a 16x705 charger. I understand to put the charger in li-2 but what should i set the amps too? i was at 3 in on the dial but the read out went up to 4 so i turned it down a little. the voltage also went passed 8. should i be concerned? trickle or fast charge? and how long should it take to charge? i was told 15 min on fast and the charger would beep when it was done but i had it on longer then that with the voltage creeping up so i unpluged it. any help would be appreciated. thanks |

That is one freaky charger. I guess you could only charge that battery at 2 amps or less since you don't have a selection for 2.2 amps. Read the owner's manual for charge mode. If you have Li-x selected it should not ask for a fast or trickle charge. LiPo charging is not the same. |

Most LiPos should be charged at 1C maximum. C is the capacity, in amp hours. Batteries are rated in milli-amp hours (mAH), so divide that number by 1000 to get amp hours. In your case, the battery is 2200mAH, divided by 1000 is 2.2AH, so C is 2.2 - you charge it at 2.2A. Can you set your charger to 2.2A? If not, set your charger to 2A, fast charge, LiPo2. How long it takes depends on how much charge is left in it. At 2A from "almost flat", it'll take just over an hour. Although a LiPo is rated at 3.7v per cell nominal, they are actually 4.2v when fully charged. Your 2s 7.4v LiPo will read 8.4v when fully charged. The charger should stop automatically at 8.4v. |
