| Integy 45t is loud
Just installed Integy 45t, had stock Axial 55t previous, and this thing is loud compared. Whines all the time and clicks in reverse. Didnt expect that. I guess its normal though.

Check the minor stuff first....make sure gear mesh isn't too tight. Also that the pinion set-screw isn't hitting the spur.

^ do that stuff first, then might want to take it off trans and run it SLOWLY and look anything odd. if its still noisy pull apart and inspect/clean.

check the brushes. I had a noisy motor once and when I changed the brushes and had the comm turned everything was all good. You can get your motor comm turned at most hobby shops if you can't do it yourself.

My friend Jeff has the same motor and his has always been louder than my Fifty-Five. We thought it was just his mesh or something, but maybe theres something to those motors.

My 45T I just installed is a lot louder than my 65T. The motor will move a little bit going in reverse and this can cause your pinion grub to contact your spur. As meantioned, check your mesh, there should be just a little bit of play between the two gears.

Thanks. That was it. In reverse it's hitting the pinion set screw. Now for my next problem: I can't back the screw out. I go through 1.5 hex wrenches like crazy because they are so small and wear down. I think I just stripped the the end of the set screw. Any ideas on stronger hex wrenches that wont wear down at this small size so fast? Also, what strength thread lock is recommended? Im using blue.

are you using the dynamite ones? If so they wear very fast. The integy ones are nice, only a few bucks more and you can replace the tips. Sorry about the misleading info, but sometimes the easiest fix is the hardest one to think of. well, for me also.... to get that screw out. Try a 1/16" hex driver if your grub screw is stripped. Or you can just try a new 1.5mm one Last edited by helhedded; 09-15-2009 at 08:11 AM. | |

The blue is fine. As far as getting the grub out, you can try using a standard sized hex that is just a little larger than 1.5 and jam it down there to get it out. You might also see if there is an easy-out that small. You might have to cut the pinion off. Good luck. Last edited by Greatscott; 09-15-2009 at 01:15 PM. |
