| 3S esc with drag brake?
well im still in the last century with my electronics, 6 cell nimhs and 55 turns and rooster crawler im wanting to make the jump to 3S cause i need way more WS. but would prefer to keep my brushed motors so i can just use a single esc on the super. i love my rooster crawler, particularly the 100% drag brake but its only good to 8.4v any recomendations on a 3S capible esc with a decent drag brake? maybe even one that can run both brushed and brushless? brushed is prefered though. |

Novak just introduced their Goat3S... If you want one with brushed/brushless capabilities, then Castle is the way to go! |

| Why am I the only person that has trouble with drag brakes and the FXR. I have mine set at 100%. Yet it still usually takes a double pump of the throttle. Making me want to go back to simpler times with my old goat that had great drag brakes. |

The FX-R and FX-R Pro will both handle 3S, but if you run a dig(servo) you must also run a BEC. The Pro has a second stack of FETS so it will run a bit cooler. |

FXR for sure. Drag brake twice as stong as a Castle, nice and tiny.

Just get 2 Mamba Max's, a Castle BEC and you will be golden. Tekins are too tempermental in my world, I have 3 dead FXR's. I still have my first 2 MM's I got when they first came out, not one issue with them.

Tekin's Fx-R BEC is 6V @ 3amps I believe and Castles MM BEC is 5V @ 3amps. Don't quote me on that though. I do run external on all of my Tekin's. I have had 5 or 6 Tekin Fx-R's in many rigs. Only crawler esc I buy now. Size is great and its easy to setup without the hotwire. Drag brake is good. Start-up, ie first pull the trigger can be jumpy but you can tune alot of that out with some settings on the Fx-R. I think there is a software update (via hotwire) for this issue. Oh yea, I forgot MM's are butter smooth, not jumpy like FXR's, the FXR kinda reminds me of a Super Rooster, except the Rooster was smoother! ;)

i Have not had one problem with my FXR. i have three of them. two of which are running Puller motor (a 7T and a 10T). I have not seen one strange or bad thing about them. Mine have never got hot and it gets warm around me. what motor you have will change how well the drag brake works i have seen that. but i think for the size and price it is a great ESC. i do run a BEC though.

tekin fxr hands down I own 3 mm and use them in the little stuff, 2 tekins fxr's that are golden, runnin 2 bergs, 1 with modified armature's and one with 35 turns, both rigs with 3s big discharge lipos, drag brake will depend on your motor strength. smaller foot print, more braking, easier setup, hands down tekin FXR. bonafide!!

A sidewinder is all ya really need. Smooth and dead dependable runs 3s + dual motors. The drag brake is weak and ya need a link to program it. The mamba comes with the link and has some more headroom. The fxr is the bomb The software update smooths it out (more can be done with the radio throttle expo but I didn't need to with the update). Small, light, killer drag brake, easy to program and great customer service. Just don't over heat the posts soldering the wires on. That is where the bad rep comes from. And run a ccbec, really |
