Default TorqueMaster BR-XL tech thread

I just released the TorqueMaster BR-XL esc officially. This is the thread for troubleshooting and tech questions/ answers. The most current specs can always be found here http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...4&cat=0&page=1 .

Here are the basic specs

2s to 6s lipo input
onboard 6v 5a switchmode BEC
46x34x20mm
38 grams (with battery wires)
Brushed only
80a continuous, no single motor limit

The one really nice feature is the internal switchmode BEC. This makes external BECs no longer needed, unless huge power is required. Supers are the only untested platform so far, but we shall get some testing done in them soon.

When the next Castle link is released it will recognize my controller and allow you to program it with the Castle link.

Going to be putting one in a Super. Do you think this esc can handle two 1/4 scale servos along with a small dig servo??

I can't answer that yet. It may be too much for just one ESC.

Right now it is set up for crawling, ready to go. There is stick programming too, but I have to figure out the flow chart for it still. With the next Castle link update it will work with Castle link.

Should have no issues with your setup.

How big is it relative to an fx-r or sidewinder? looks like a sidewinder case but I could be wrong.

It is the same size as the sidewinder. I used the same molds as the sidewinder case to save on R&D costs. It costs a couple of grand to get a cheap mold made, and on this particular ESC I didn't feel the need to do so.

The internals are totally different however. I designed this from scratch as a controller that I wanted to have, and you guys get to have some too

I'll be tossing one in my super with 2 JR 8611a's and 2 micro servos. Should have it by the weekend.

I'm working on it right now. The current firmware has it buried like 5 steps in, and it may not have 100% available as a choice. By friday Castle may update the link to include my controller which will get around that issue (with 1% increments). Once the 1.03 firmware is released it will move the drag brake to option two in stick programming with 25% increments so you don't have a ton of beeps to go through.

I am going to keep making these as long as there is demand. I typically expect about a two year product life for electronics otherwise, before new FETs, manufacturing, and chips change enough to beg for a redesign.

Canada is no problem.

Sounds great, i'll be buying one for sure! Last question- does it have li-po cut off built in or is it just safe for 2-6 input?

This is number 2 on the "to buy list"
