| Which Esc?
I'm going to be after a new esc and motor in a few weeks. It's going in an AX10. I had been looking at going with a rooster and novak 45T as I know a few people running the esc with a 55T and a hand wound 45T. I've been warned not to get it by various other people. So this leaves me wondering what to use instead. I've been looking at the Tekin FXR and it seems for everyone who's got one or two of them that are perfect there's someone who's had 3 die and will never own another. I'll be running it on a 6cell NiMH stick pack (3kmah, 3,3kmah and 3,6kmah) to begin with, but then I'm planning on having some 12 cell 7.2 saddle packs made up (that's a saddle pack on each axle, joined in parallel) I think they'll be 1200mah packs, but I can't remember. |

I own 3 Tekin FXR's and they are great! The only other esc I would be willing to run would be the new one from Holmes Hobbies.

I put the Rooster combo in my AX10 and it works great. Most people complain because it only handles a 2s lipo, but this is rock crawling so to me a 2s is just fine. There is also the Novak Goat and it has a 2s or 3s option available. |

get a cc sidewinder or a lrp crawler, their both working with brushed and brushless so you are ready for the future. I own all both and also a FXR and two Rooster. All are good, FXR is a bit smoother and you can more things tune for your style, but the lrp ist as great as the sidewinder. all in all i prefer the sidewinder; it's a cc! Greetz Nico |

I do like the sidewinder, I have no clue about brushless motor ratings, so I might do some reading and come back to you on that. Unless I can find somewhere selling a combo for less than any 2 limbs of my choosing Ok, so I can get this Castle Sidewinder 1/10 ESC + CCRM5700 Motor, for £135 + postage in the uk, which is cheaper than import This might be the way to go as it's the same as getting a rooster with 45T and saves the whole import fiasco Last edited by Crimson Feight; 09-25-2009 at 07:10 AM. |

So having done some more reading, but nowhere near enough, I understand that if I get the CC sidewinder I'll need to look for a 21.5T brushless motor like the LRP. I've not found anything on how to wire a brushless/brushed esc to a brushed motor as google would rather just find places to buy said items. I'm still drawn to the Tekin, but worried because I don't know about their customer services outside the US. |

| I'm just worried by the all the people who've had problems with the tekin, like I say further up, it seems that for every good one there is a dodgy one. It does seem that everyone with a problem is running 3s lipo though, so I should be fine |

Their aren't many esc's out there that someone hasen't burnt , blowed , crashed , crushed , drowned , or just plain destroyed some way or another. Tekin has sold thousands of esc's. Don't always go by what you read. If a product is bad the word gets out pretty fast in the crawlin world. Many people use Tekin products in the crawlin world & have great success but there is always a few bad apples with any product.Tekin & Novak are top namebrands in crawling you can't go wrong with eathier. Just my 2 cents.
