Default Scale Lighting

Looking at this lighting kit: http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Yeah-Raci...2-p-16809.html

My question is, do I need a second battery or can I just plug it in to my 3rd channel spot on my receiver. I have a big offroader 2.4GHz Tx/Rx, so the 3rd channel is an on/off switch.

Thanks!

You could probably use it on your 3rd channel, but you will probably need a BEC ( haven't used BEC's so im not 100% sure on this) but when i had my scaler i had 8 LED's on my lighlift, and pluging them into the 3rd channel was drawing too much power and wasn't allowing the rest of the electronics to function properly.

If im wrong, someone correct me

If it helps, I probobly wouldn't use the Amber lights. So I'd only run 3 sets instead of 4.

i had a set of those on my rig for awhile. i cut the end off and used a seperate 6volt battery pack for it.
for those lights a bec would just hook from your exisiting battery and the other end you would use the positive and neg and leave out the signal wire and hook it up to the lights. and then set the voltage to 6volts, i think from the factory it set to 4.8volts.
later

Is there a system out there that doesn't require a BEC?

An LED draws around 20 milliAmps, so this lighting set will probably draw around 200mA in total. That's a fifth of an amp.

I doubt that it'll make much difference to the total Amp draw. If your truck works OK without an external BEC, adding these lights should be fine.

I was wondering that because in a review on a site that sells them, the guy's review said you just plug it into the the reciever and go. Plus my 3rd channel is a on/off switch, so it won't affect anything when they're off (like when it's sunny out lol)
