Default Brushless outrunner size ?

What size of outrunner would fit in a losi cc. like a 300 or 280. Thanks.

Those would probly be too small. Even with a 380 you need an adapter plate. You would need the same size as the crawmaster for a losi cc. But the crawlmaster would be too slow. Finding a full size outrunner is hard because the full size ones are all 4mm or 5mm shaft. I ended up finding one with a 4mm shaft and machining it down to 3mm for a regular pinion for my axial.

What speed is your outrunner theslowguy?

You probably need something fast.

I had a 1000kv and it wasnt too slow but it was still slow. It would deffinitely be too slow for a cc tho. Just my opinion.

I am thinking 4000kv or more. An inrunner would be better suited for those speeds.

I was reading that the Losi CC was designed for a sensored brushless setup like the goat or the 21.5 excelorin system. Is that true? They said they did that to compensate for the massive gear reduction and the inefficiencies of the worm gear.

seems like a valid postulation about it. It has geardown to handle high speed motors.

Ive got a Scorpion 2580KV Outrunner thats designed to be run on 14.8v which equates to 38,184 rpm. Would that be ok to run with the LCC? I think wheel speed wouldnt be an issue.

Yeah, it would work fine. Some of the scorpion motors are pretty fast, but in general inrunners do a better job at those speeds. Less switching losses and rotating mass. The windings also cool better on inrunners and there is less noise.
