| Battery with low run times. its supposed to be a 4200 mah but it runs like a 1500 mah
I recently bought a intelect 4200 mah (ni-mh) battery off of ebay, i put a traxxas plug on it and charged it on my charger and it stopped charging at half so i plugged it in again and when it finished charging i put it in my truck and when i drove it it seemed extremely sluggish. it only lasted like 4 minutes and died to where it would not drive anymore. what is wrong with it? what do i need to do to get its full potential back?

some batterys you have to charge / discharge a few cycles befor they will come up to full capacity. how many runs cycles have u put it threw? but x2 on checking the voltage |

after re-reading your first post its probably a bad cell, you said the truck seemed "slugish" but mah weather it be 800 or 5000 wouldnt have anny effect on speed. that comes from the voltage.

i'm not familiar with your charger, but try setting it for 1 amp. charge it for 20 min. then you can bump it up to 4 amps to finish the charge. i did that when i had a battery that did not want to take a charge. hope this helps.

I've had several packs with bad cells. The voltage measures OK off-load, but drops down to about 5 or 6v under load (while actually driving). I got fed up with messing about with NiMH. Binned the lot and switched to LiPo. |

I have been burned with ebay batteries before. I bought some 3800's once, and noticed that they had bad run times. I cut them open and found that they where only 1500's. So, if your batteries are the kind where you can't see the cells you may have beened burned also.

If its not a dead cell, then check your charger to make sure it is set for NiMH. I have a few NiMH's, and my charger was set for Ni-CD. The NiMH would charge, but never to full and would run out fast. Once I figured out I was charging it wrong, I changed the setting on my charger and it was like having a brand new battery again.

X2, hopefully the vendor will take care of you, one good reason to deal with the vendors here on rcc. If you have a temp gun, check the individual cells while charging or discharging, if you have a bad cell it will be hotter than the others. | |

im not gonna worry about sending it back because to make a long story short i have delt with this guy before on a lipo and found it to be the wrong amount of cells so i sent it back and got my money back minus return shipping. he helped me out by giving me more than what he owed me for the returned shipping amount off of my purchase. he isnt a bad guy he just deals alot of rc stuff. so im not going to worry about it and ill just cycle it and run it till she pukes. o and it is for sure a 4200 mah battery it is in a clear package.

What is the Delta Peak set at on your charger? If the Delta Peak is set too low then your charger will get a false reading and think that the pack fully is charged when it really isnt. Raise the delta peak to about 12mv and then try charging it.
