| Spektrum announces a Budget 3Ch Radio - DX3E
Spektrum announced a new budget 3ch radio that looks to have crawlers in mind. The DX3E. http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM3160 It's only going to be $99 and will have a 3rd channel switch that can be set up as 2p, 3p or linear. I can't tell for sure, but from reading the manual it refers to the 3rd channel as a button (although it looks like a rocker switch), it sounds like to use on a dig you would have to cycle through the positions to get where you want. The manual says pushing the button in 3p mode will cycle you through one endpoint to center to the opposite endpoint. There is no digital trim or display, it's all mechanical pot adjustment. Honestly, I don't think that's a huge deal. Coming from a guy who spends alot of time setting up radios for customers in his store - I kind of like this. I think it's much less intimidating for someone new to the hobby and a little more intuitive. 3ch Spektrum for $99 WITH a SR300 & Digital Servo that is a steal! Looks like a great controller for someone looking for something simple to get started at a great price. You could use it with the BND (Bind N Drive) 1/24th scale Losi crawler as well.

Exactly what I've been looking for. Now I don't have to buy a no-name off brand radio off the bay! |

Looks cool, I like the rear thumb 3ch button. But not really feeling all the manual button setting on top of the remote looks like they get moved or anyone can really move your setting's. But for 100.00 can't complain on the price. |

This sure looks like it will the ticket for people needing the 3rd channel as a 3 position. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

Great price but why not just get the DX3R? We all know how addicting this hobby is. Invest in your future instead people!!!

The downside of this DX3E is only 1 model memory.. I dont think people will keep buying this for each of their rig. Its gonna be more expensive

Nice move Spektrum. It may not be for the OG's who have DX3R's or 4PK's, but these will be just the ticket to get newbs into the sport a little more. It's definitely not the most spec'd out radio out there, but it'll be the perfect answer for the classic "Hey I'm thinking about getting into crawling but I'm not sure I'll like it, what's a cheap radio to try that will work good for crawling?". It may even sell to a few people who only comp with one rig and aren't into anything else. I know one thing, I wish this had been out when I first got into crawling. All I had was a glitchy 3 channel FM JR radio with 2 position 3rd channel, I did a little dance the day I moved up to my DX3R. |

Heck, I know people with $200-$300 radio's who do that instead of buying more recievers.

so wait... does the 3rd channel have EPA? having a third channel without EPA, would seem really pointless for a dig setup. but i got the DX3R so im happy with my Spektrum |

just flipped through it, all EPA's are on the top pannel, did not see that in the pic in this thread. @ $100 its cheaper than having me buy a new receiver to expand my collection
