Default Radio Mod Question

It’s been very slow at work, so I’ve had about 25 hrs this week to spend reading all of the different threads in this forum.

I’ve been trying of decide which radio to get, so my question is, is it possible to do this mod http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9765 by FritoBandito (excellent post) on a 3PM, MX-3, or XR3i.

Has anyone tried it? If not, which of these three do you think the mod could be done on the easiest?

The goal it to have independent 4ws that is proportional. If it can be done on a TQ3, how hard is it on one of the previous mentioned radios?

I don't know about the XR3i, but the regular XR3 comes stock with the 3rd channel grip switch. No need to mod it. I don't know of any grip mounted switch that is proportional for the rear stearing. I think the only way to have proportional rear stear would be to use a 2 stick (airplane style) 4 or more channel radio.

it is possible to mod every radio, you just have to know some electronics and figure out how each radio works. it is harder on the digital ones since they are controlled by chips and not analog pots and switches. I would leave those radios alone if you dont know what you are doing because you will just waste your time. I modded the tq3 and it is simple as it gets.
