Default Wrong Connectors & Crystal Problems

Hi, I am just starting to wire up my crawler and i ran into a problem.
I have a Traxxas 2055 Servo for steering, and a duratrax Intellispeed ESC. The connectors that plug into the RX have a small tab on one side. The holes in the RX for the connectors do not have the tab slot.
Can i trim the tab, and use the connectors? Or will i have to buy a new RX?

Secondly, i pulled out the RX Crystal and did not take note of which way it went it. Does it matter?

Thanks everyone in advanced!

You can CAREFULLY trim the tab off with a hobby knife and it should work fine. The direction of the crystal does not make any difference.
