i want to run the novak rooster combo but don't know what battery to use

Well that brings forth several questions. Do you want Li-Po or NimH? What crawler are you running this esc and motor in?

Yeah pretty close. It's hard to suggest batteries for crawlers when a lot of the info about the specific crawler is missing.

If you do not want to go with LiPo for some reason, I like my split packs on the front axle using delrin battery plates. Got them all from The Crawler Store. I used my stock velcro battery straps to hold the batteries on, but if you do not have the straps I am pretty sure you can get thos at TCS as well.

since it sounds like you haven't bought the rooster yet, might wanna think about a 3s ESC (like a castle or tekin) and a 3s pack.
