Default Having issues.

My buddy asked me to take a look at his racer. I got the battery all charged up and turned it on. It just jumps around and the tires twitch but that's it. Everything appears to be hooked up right. The control does nothing at all which made me think it could be the reciever. I picked it up and the tires started spinning full throttle. Now I think it could be the ESC (tazer 15T) Any ideas from someone who knows more than I do?

it could be a few different things,,,when you picked it up was the throttle pulled on the Tx?

how long since the motor was cleaned or serviced? do you have another motor you can wire in?

uh yeah,,the controller is just that,,was the radio off? is that what you meant?

make sure there are good batteries in the radio and turn it on for any kind of checks on the rig with it on,,otherwise the Rx picks up random signals and the truck goes nuts

Ok, I've recovered now.

You always have to turn on the Radio (Tx) before the car. when the car is turned the receiver looks for a signal from the radio. The car will definitely be erratic /out of control if the radio isn't on first.

The receiver may be to close to the ESC. Or you could be getting interference from contact with metal. e.g. metal chassis. Also watch your wire routing. Try to kee power away from signal wires. Meaning away from antenna/servo wires.

That may help.

Try and recalibrate your ESC. Meaning setting you Throttle/Brake/Reverse.

make sure the antenna wire coming out of the receiver is completly away from everything else in the car,,even take the reciever out and let it hang outside the car and try it...if you have a meter check to make sure the voltage coming out of the battery is close to its rated voltage,,if you have a bad cell in the pack it may charge ok but may not discharge right to make the car work
you can also check voltage coming out of the esc to make sure its sending volatge to the motor,,if it is then put your meter lead across the motor tabs pos to pos and neg to neg and spin the wheels to see if you get any voltage out of the motor,,that will give you an idea if the motor is fried
