Default High KV outrunners?

Im building an all around basher trial truck and wanted to have a motor with good torque and speed but with as little maintinance as possible. I know everyone is gonna say go brushed. But honestly Im not interested. I found a 400 sized 3500kv outrunner. Good quality, good price, correct size shaft. Here are the specs.

Model #:
Alpha 400 (63M1
Kv:
3500Kv
Input Watts:
225W
Resistance:
.06 ohms
Idle Current:
1.60A
Continuous Current:
19A
Max Burst Current:
23A
Cells Ni-Cd/Ni-MH:
6-10
Cells Li-Po:
3
Weight:
2.1 oz (60g)
Overall Diameter:
1.1 in (28.4mm)
Shaft Diameter:
0.12 in (3mm)
Overall Length:
1.24 in (31.6mm)
Will this be useable in my truck? I want to be able to rip it throught the woods and do doughnuts in the gravel on top of go trail truckin. It will be running off either a sidewinder or a vxl-3s esc and an 8000mah 2s lipo. I have the 18.5 goat in my comp truck for speed reference and according to the novak site its 2700kv. And that is still just too slow. Any input would be appreciated.

I've used a similar cyclon outrunner in my rock racer except it was 4200 KV. It had 10 times the grunt of a similar inrunner and was plenty fast on 3S. The downside was that it cogged terribly even when geared 9/90 on my AX-10. It was so bad that I left it aside and returned to the trusty silver can.
Hell I run on 3S, it gets a bit hot on 18/87 but I don't care at all cause it's a 10$ motor.

yah if all else failed I was half considering just stocking up on titan 12t's and calling it a day. They are cheap and have tons of power, but I dont know how good they are on the torque. Is the outrunner worth a try? Its only $15 off fleabay.

I got the new 21T (or 23?) from the new E-Maxx and I am not impressed at all from the torque even on 4S. Speed is nice on 4S, very nice but a cheapo 35T is torquier.

If you will be running in mud or water I would say no to brushless. We had a guy in our club run a brushless on his scaler and some water got in it and fried the motor and ESC.

I agree with you, the silver can is the way to go. I used an E maxx 21T Titan and was very dissapointed with its performance.

for $15 I would try it. If it cogs too bad or blows up you could always take it apart and rewind it.

edit: Helicopter motors are usually high KV

I just decided to run a vxl 3-s esc and pick up a 13.5t sensored brushless motor. Ill probly still pick up the outrunner just to try it tho.
