Default Quick question on lipos

I just got my charger for my lipo batt and its asking me what A. I want to charge the pack at??? Is that the Mah rating?

Example I have a 5000mah 7.4 20c batt does that mean 5.0 A?

As a rule of thumb I never charge a battery at a rate that is higher than it's capacity. In your example, 5000 mah(milli-amps per hour) would be 5 amps or 5.0A.

Most of my packs are smaller, 1300mah so I charge them at 1.3A. Some packs can be charged at a higher rate, if so they will probably be marked that way. You can always charge them at a lower rate without causing problems other than long charge times but should use caution is charging at a higher rate.

Thanks man I just started charging it now!!!!

One more question though... On the charger's display it says the finished voltage will be 8.4v (2s) is this wrong... Did I set something wrong? I dont want to over charge my 7.4v pack!!!

That's correct. I run 3S and a fully charged battery shows 12.6. The actual voltage capacity is a little higher than the battery voltage rating.

There is a wealth of info in the electronics section of the forum. If you search for lipo charging you will probably find more than you ever wanted to know.
