Default What Charger?

I am new to this guys so bear with me. I bought an AX-10 used and it came with a battery pack that has all together 7 Elite 1500 NiMH batteries. The rig did not come with a charger. Can you all give me some advice regarding brands and what to look for and not?

Go for something that will be capable of doing lipo's down the road. I use a venom pro charger, does everything I need and comes with loads of connectors. Spend a little bit extra now and save in the long run.

You'll need a power supply...

Make sure to open the Turnigy before using it to make sure there's no random screws in the case... Those HongKong/Chinese like to make you work a little for the price.

X3. We just got them on our site and love them! If you are going to spend money on a charger, you should go ahead and spend the little extra and get a nice one that will last a long time. It is a big investment. If you plan on sticking with RC's, you will thank yourself in the long run!

Racer's Edge just came out with a new fairly compact charger (about the size of the Duratrax ICE) that runs around $135 (street price) and has a built-in 8A power supply. It also has a built-in balancer and includes a charging adapter that pretty much can account for almost any plug. It is backlit, has a 5 year warranty, & comes in a nifty aluminum carrying case. I believe it is going to be featured in an upcoming R/C magazine.

These Imax chargers are good "cheap" chargers. I've been using mine to charge A123. Value Hobby's service is second to none. It's mostly airplane stuff though.

+1, value hobby is great, and the prices are excellent as well. I have the b6 pro and for the money it's great, none of the inaccurate balancing issues that troubled the early b6's. Also the b8 is supposed to be pretty good as well, and it's a 150w charger, not bad for $50.

I would vouch for these, too. The only reason that I didn't recommend them is because if it breaks down, there really isn't any type of warranty. My friends and I have ordered a bunch of different Hong Kong (cheap like these) chargers and haven't had any issues, yet. Imax tends to have less complaints about their products and my impression is that their stuff is more reliable. Power supplies are another story, though.

We sell these that will do lipos too, and have a built in balancer for $65. Free shipping too:

I'm using the Hyperion 0606i AC/DC as well.

The Onyx 230 is an OK charger but by the time you get it and an external balancer you're only $20-30 away from a charger with an integral balancer which will work better than an external balancer. It's designed to work with it.
