| 4 or 5 channel transmitter/receiver??
I would like to find out what a good 4 or 5 channel tranmitter/receiver would be. I have looked at a bunch of different ones and to be honest I ended up not getting any because after the 4th or 12th one I just had to ask some one elses opinion. I know that they would be targeted for a plane or heli but I need at least 4 servos for my crawler project and would like to add one if I find it necessary. Thanks for your opinions. |

If you would look aroung a little, you would see that most are using either the VG6000 or a DX6, depending on budget (but neither is cheap)

I was looking at something like this because of the cost involved. http://cgi.ebay.com/4-channel-R-C-tr...QQcmdZViewItem and there are some others around the same price range Futuba ect. This will be a first time crawler build for me so I want as much info as possible. Thanks |

Is it bad to run an air frequency on the ground? I'm running a six channel heli radio in mine. works great.

Yes it is very bad if anyone in the area is flying a plane or heli. Usually Air is 72Mhz, Ground is 75Mhz, 27Mhz is usually the cheaper radios. As far as channels go 1-6 is 27Mhz for all use, 11-60 is for air, and 61-90 is for ground. AM or FM doesn't matter when you have 2 on the same channel. As far as a radio recommendation, the Futaba 4VWD AM radio is an entry level 4 channel surface radio. Tower sells them for $110.

running air freq's on the ground is not a recommended thing. The reason is, if there is anyone running air freq's near you, there is a chance that you can crash their 1000 dollar 200 hour plane. they may not be very happy after that. but if you are no where near an air field or a park where people fly then you are probably safe. I have an old Futaba 4vf that i have been using for a couple of years and have had no problems but i also don't go to tracks because of it.

so it would be like running a heli or plane in the same area as someone else without knowing it. I guess I have never seen anyone flying in the areas where I drive so I never thought about it. makes sence though. I would be mad if I had a plane and it crashed because some jerky was on the same channel.
