| I want to bump my Servo Voltage to the max
I have the CC bec and i want to turn it up to power the servo at its max voltage rating (the servo's) Is this safe? and is this how your wupposed to wire it? is there any negative side effects of this or will i have the retarded servo power i'm looking for. i'm using a JR z9100t servo. spec: JR Z9100T Digital Ultra Hi-Torque Surface Servo (Metal Gear) [JRPSZ9100T] MAP Price: $139.99 This is the JR Z9100T Digital Ultra Hi-Torque Surface Servo. Monster truck owners in need of the greatest steering power possible will love the Z9100T Ultra Torque servo. With the same case size as the 9000 series, it's an easy upgrade, and the red anodized aluminum heat sink case keeps things cool in demanding conditions. Features
Type: Ultra High-Torque Digital Servo Torque: 300 oz/in @ 4.8V, 370 oz/in @ 6V Speed: .18 sec / 60 degrees @ 4.8V, .15 sec / 60 degrees @ 6V Dimensions: 0.83" x 1.59" x 1.57" Weight: 2.3 oz Gears: Metal Gears |

wires look right but can you get a servo that is about the same performance but cheeper? like hobbico cs170 333 oz of torque at 6.0 volts titanium gears and only 90 bucks TCS crawlers.

I don't know about going over factory voltage spec. You might let the smoke out of your servo. I would not do it . can you change anything else on your rig to get more turning power ????? like take out a high steering kit or go with a behind the axel steering kit so the linkadge moves the tires from a more centered point on the axel

I'm running 6.3v through a futaba reciever and so far so good. Wiring direct to the servo would eliminate the possible risk of damaging your rx, but I think if you max out the voltage you will need to upgrade the wire to the servo. If you don't, you could have a melt down.

i can't change the steering because the rig isn't built yet. i have a shafty i compete with and i'm waiting on the new chassis. i want this bully to be 100% what i want right out of the box. i think i will contact JR to see what they think of this. I don't want to void the warranty on the servo but i want the best steering i can get. |

JR makes HV servos that run on 7.4 2s direct lipo. I have run their 8711 in my heli at 7v no problem over a year till I got the HV versions.

I've been running an 8711 at 7volts for well over a year and have had zero problems with it.

if your wanting to run higher voltage to the servo, get a high voltage servo thats designed for 7.4 volts. now im not 100% sure, however wit ha 7.4 volt servo you may be able to wire it directly to a 2s pack, and that would supply 8.4 volts at full charge. i would check with the manuacturer first though. fwiw, nitro stuff has used 5 cell packs to power the radios for years. 5 cells is 6 volts nominal, however 6.75-7 volts is normal for a fully charged pack, and running normal servos rated for 4.8/6 volts, ive never heard of anyone having an issue. |
