Default n00b question about TR2

I can't seem to get the quick tune to work on my rebel 2. How long should I be holding the trigger in before i push it to the brake position? Also, should I only go from throttle to brake once? The light still blinks after I release the trigger.

The manual is pretty vague. I followed the instructions that they lay out, but it's a no go.

you keep the button down until it blinks red(10-15seconds). give it full throttle, then full reverse, then you let it go to neutral. led should be solid red. done. check if the connector in the receiver is in the right way and your radio is working.

It never stops flashing when I release the trigger. The receiver works in the truck I removed it from. I have also tried 2 different radios. Do you think I may have bought a bad esc?
