Default electronics help inside a servo

i've now had 2 servos fail me. on both units the same 'chip' has burnt out.

can any1 help me to find a replacement chip, as soldering it on is easily done. i have access to surface mount equipment.

the component in question is a 8 pinned chip. there 2 of them inside each servo, only 1 has burnt out in each. (servo still works 1 direction.)

the number on the chip is 9958 & the servos in question are hi-tec HS-5745MG

i've been in contact with hi-tec & the reply was to send them back for repair. thats no use at all as i live in the UK!

finally, hi-tec have said that the problem comes with 'overloading' the servo. can any1 suggest anything better?

can't help you finding a chip, but are you setting your epa? You can fry a digital servo pretty quick running without epa. I learned the hard way.

hmmm. maybe not, i'm not sure now. the epa's haven't been set, but the travel on the servos is spot on. don't want to bring in the end point because of losing turning radius. (or have i missed the point completely?)

just had a look on towers. seems that the cheaper hobbyco servos have a higher torque rating than mine. bugger.

mind u, still need to sort the problem out first.

Double check the epa adjustment.bring it in a little so you know that it's not locked to the end with the wheel turn.if the servo is still trying to push on the wheel when turned that can over load the servo
