Default New Plug

Just seen that venom was coming out with a NEW universal plug system for those of us that can't find or figure out which one is the best to use. What ya guys think?

Sorry if this is a repost

I would say that is useless unless you are putting it on the ESC side. Otherwise you would need one for every pack you have.

I don't really get the purpose anyway. If you are buying the plug system and installing it why not just install the right one from the get go. I can see why Venom is doing it though, they can just put that on their packs and they don't have to carry multiple part numbers.

might not be an issue on crawlers, but if you look at racing set ups, many people solder wires directly from the esc to motor, and some even direct from the battery to esc as well. the reason is resistance, even the best connectors out there have more resistance than a straight piece of wire, so how does adding a 2nd connector make sense at all?

I am guessing its something they will start including with their packs. And that is a wise move, as the customer would not have to cut the end off and solder on what they prefer to use. Though I would probably still solder on a real deans connector. But I could see my self being lazy and running their plug for awhile, if I were to actually buy one of their packs.

I've settled on a connector and make up adaptors for some different plugs just in case. I don't need a setup like that, I'd rather have packs come with no connetor. Its more of an inventory consolodation thing than anything. Good for people who are too lazy to learn to solder too.

X2...I myself would rather get packs that come with no connector - it allows me to choose what connector to use based on my preference or current setup.

Yeah I was definitely thinking that it was geared towards newbs or at least hobbyists that don't know how to solder or don't want to cut off the stock connector on the esc

That's the reason why they have RTR's available for newbs so they don't have to worry about cutting anything. Luckily most RTR's even Axial come with stock Tamiya connectors which is still widely available.

Agreed, when I raced dirt oval I always soldered my battery in......hate having one connector let alone 2!!

I always soldered my batteries with the old matched packs. I haven't seen anyone do it with LiPo now though. It made one more thing to carry around though, a soldering iron.

I just wish that everything came with deans plugs. It's as much an industry standard as the Tamiya plugs now. And now you have Traxxas with their plugs, Losi is starting to use the E- Flite EC3 connectors.

I'm with you - just put on deans (or your preferred plug) and be done. An adaptor system is just one more thing to lose or have fail on you.
