The new software in my Mamba Max made drag brake 200% better. It is great. Will not roll back at all now.

That also goes for the sidewinder too, and I would imagine the holmes torquemaster as well.

loving my sidewinder's drag brake as well!

I hear the FX-R's have pretty good drag brake as do the roosters with a decent motor.

Keep in mind that the motor has almost as much to do with drag brake.

I've got a novak 45t/sidewinder in the AX10, and it holds great, but in my trail rig with a titan 21t/sidewinder, it barely holds at all. The magnets are weaker in the titan motor, as are the stock axial motors. So, if you're going to upgrade the ESC, might as well get a motor that can maximize the brake.

my FX-R has a better drag brake then my mamba did when it was set to 100%. remember your motor has some say in how well the drag brake works as well. so get a good motor and set the esc up properly.

MM and Sidewinders can now be set to 218% drag brake.

I thought it was 220% (splitting hairs) for the drag brake. Whatever it is, I have it on "crawler full on" with the 3.23 update (saw too many issues with 3.24 and 3.241) and the most recent firmware for the SW.

The castle link is also less expensive than a tekin hotwire, and there's a field programmer available for it. Plus, you can use it to program the voltage in your BEC.

Regardless if you go with the Castles, tekins, or novaks, getting a better motor will make a huge difference in the drag brake. All the above ESC's work, and have strong DB on the right motor. (Integy 55t works just fine and is inexpensive.)

i'm currently running a mamba max with a novak 55 which is plenty strong enough for my AX10. Plus built in USB port means you don't need to buy a castle link.

for my MOA build. i've ordered a BR-XL and some warrior 35Ts, the holmes hold brake seems pretty strong..

another vote for the sidewinder. when i first put it in i thought the dragbrake was alright, however i came from an esc without dragbrake. i then got a castle link, put it to 100% and it was quite good. once the latest updates came out i put it on crawler full on, and its wicked strong, its like locking the brakes up on a full size car.
