|  Recommend a servo for around $75
I am looking for a servo to replace the steering servo in my CR-01. My last servo only had 108oz of torque (came with the truck), so anything will be an upgrade. I run a Spektrum DX-3.0, so I can run both digital and analog. I was looking at the Hitec HS985MG. Any opinions on this servo? My budget is $75. |

Hitec 5645MG would have more torque then that servo. Can get them off ebay for like 50 bucks shipped. |

You can go with a Hobbico CS-170 here is a link http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/shop/ind...oducts_id=2161 4.8v - 250oz-in torque 6v - 333oz-in torque Titanium gears $85 A bit higher than you said, but i've heard good things about this servo, I personally havn't ran it though. |

Well, I have a $55 gift card to A-main that I want to spend, and they don't have that hobbico  Can you recommend anything from there that will be comparable? I looked at the 7955TG, but it is hard justifying spending that much on a servo  I would like to be on a $75 budget, but if justified, I can spend more. EDIT: How about the Hitec HS7954SH? Specs are 333oz on 6.0v and 403oz on 7.4v. I would be running it on 6V, but would later upgrade to castle bec and run 7.4V. Best thing is it is only $105. The Hitec 7954sh, check out this thread Review Hitec HS-7954SH. I personally have not used this servo but it sounds good. I have the Hitec 7950, it's really nice but more than $75. |

the hobbyco one is great, i have one on my AX10 comp crawler and it works great. ive got the BEC set to 7.0v and it will turn almost every time, even flip the truck sideways if its really bound up.

think about the long run and get the best servo you can, if you have to run a cheaper one for awhile do it. I personally have the hi tec 945 that you mentioned and I like it but when I crawl with peeps that have the 7955 i can definately see the difference. They can wiggle there way out of spots where mine won't move. Also JR makes a really good one for around $120 like the 7955. I also think that the more expensive servos come with better warranties. just my opinion but I can tell you that i'm allready saving for a better servo myself |

i just put a hitec 985 in my truck, however i havent gotten a chance to get to the rock pile. it seems quite torquey and its rather quick. no other input on it yet, i can give some feedback one i run it more

I ended up pulling the trigger on a 7954SH and aluminum servo arm. Got both for only $55 after giftcards! Last edited by lt.; 02-20-2010 at 11:33 AM. |
