Default Rotary Switch for TQ3 3rd Channel?

I dug up an old Venom transmitter from my VMG, the funky dual polarity (just jam the batteries in either way you want and it works) setup. I did salvage the switch stuff and the steering switch just unplugged from the board. So I'm thinking about using this for my rear steer on the maxx. Would it work? it's the same 3 wire style as the stocker and would give me independent proportional control front and rear of the truck. mounting and control knob/lever would still need to be figured out (thinking about addapting the dual rate knob from the venom as it's made for thumb control).
