timing advance on a 7t puller?

i started to take end bell off of my 7t to clean, when i relized itwasnt going to come off,(pinion had to be cut off,taped motor up but seen some slivers of metal inside can)so i loosened the 2 screws on the brush side of motor a i didnt check position of brushess as it moved freeley around the armature, so my question is could i have adjusted timing or not if its not in the propper position

BTW, the endbell screws off if you hadn't noticed that.

Just followed that thread to get mine properly timed....works like a charm.
