Default BEC electronics: simple mod?

OK, I know this may be silly being that a BEC is so cheap.. But...

I have an FXR ESC, could I not just use a transistor or MOSFET, with the power output of the ESC (red wire) as the base voltage, the collector hooked to BATT+, and the emitter connected to the receiver?

As i understand it, the internal FXR BEC would control the voltage, but the FET would carry the load.

or am I missing something?

That actually sounds like an ingenious idea. I don't see why it wouldn't work... if it did, you would have really instant power to the servos, and you may actually be able to pump up the voltage/amps a little depending on the parts you use to get a really capable setup.

give it a shot, and let us know how it goes. take some pics of your handywork, maybe a super ms paint diagram too!
