im no radio guru and was wondering who has used this radio-
http://www.rc4wdshop.com/go/product_...roducts_id=156 and how do you like it? could the 3rd channel be used for a winch?
is this one worth the extra $$?

You can use the Big Offroader for a winch,,but you have to reverse the third channel to reverse the winch this is done through programming,,it only take a second but it isnt just click friendly.

The 3rd channel on the BOR is a 2 position switch but as it states in the insructions you can use the 2 pos witch as a 3 pos by simply reversing the channel.

A slightly higher end radio like the new 4 channel 2.4 ghz that RC4WD is making now( see the RC4WD) section in the vendors area on here) or something like the DX3E which will both have 3 pos switches.

The winch requires you to reel out cable then stop or reverse the reel to bring the cable back in.

Hope this helps.

Afraid i've not tried the RC4WD radio, but I've just got myself a Turborix 6ch radio for under $100. It's computer programmable so should be easy to set up with a winch if you want to.

I had the silver version for a year and loved it. But I needed an easier 3rd channel for dig usage. So I got a DX3E. I'm interested to see their new 4-channel when it comes out
