Default sidewinder esc and traxxas vxl 3500 motor??

has anyone used this combo in their scaler rigs and if so did the esc get very hot?

I will be running a honcho with a summit trans and didn't know if the sidewinder would handle that motor on 3s 5000mah lipo.

also, I know the drag brake on the sidewinder works on brushed motors but does it work on brushless too?

thanks

the esc will handle the 3500on 3s no problem since it can run the castle 4600 on 3s and it should have any heat problems if it gets enough air flow. i believe the sidewinder has a drag brake for brushless as well but i would have to look to be sure

It will work... kinda. my biggest issue was the low speed throttle response and it cogged preaty bad most of the time on start up... unless ya just nailed it.

As for the drag brake... I'm not sure I can answer that very well since I tried the combo WAY before the latest CC update that helped the drag brake a bunch on brushed... may have helped the brushless as well.

I've got the SW/VXL setup in my Slash and it does fine.

The SW does have a dragbrake setting for brushless.

thanks guys a ton.
I guess I'll see how bad the cogging is when crawling.
