Reciever Antenna Question.

Is there something unique about RX antenna wire? If I were to cut it in half would I be ok to just solder a piece of say servo wire or anything close to the same guage to it? On any non-spectrum radio... Or for that matter is there anything special about spectrum wire?

Newer Spektrum is coaxial, older Spektrum is not. I've cut my old Spektrums short, with nearly the same range. Still so far away I could barely see where it was.

Old FM and AM stuff you can solder a new piece on.

Does the receiver have an antenna? If so, how long is it?
Yes, the stock antenna is 8.5” long, making mounting the antenna easy. What’s more, if you prefer a shorter antenna, you can carefully cut the Spektrum™ receiver antenna to just 3.6” and not lose any performance.

Spektrum SR3100 Antenna Bulletin
Spektrum’s SR3100 receiver (included with the DX3R) features a coaxial antenna. Do not cut the antenna. The exposed area at the tip of the coax is the functional part of the antenna and must remain at 31mm in length. Altering the 31mm length will detune the receiver reducing range.
