Default Heat sink for mamba 5700?

Anyone know of a heat sink for the 5700, im running it in my slash 4x4 with a 3 cell and goes into thermal shutdown after about 15 min of hard running.

Might try dropping a tooth or two on the pinion. What gearing are you running now?

^ exactly.

if you need a heat sink something isn't right, most likely you are geared too high for the motor.

In my opinion the 5700 is not a good motor for the slash, specially on 3s. Slashes really like the traxxas 3500kv motors, or an equivalent sized can.

Its the stock 13 tooth with the 54 tooth spur. It does haul a#$, it will leave over 10ft of black marks from a dead stop. not bad for a 4x4

I would drop it about 3 or 4 teeth. My stock vxl in my 4x4 slash gets warm on 3s. The Mamba Max and 5700 in my sc10 gets pretty warm on 3s.

Well i figured out why it was getting so hot. I was out playing with it today and pulled a couple wheelies when it just stopped, but i still had steering. went and picked it up and smoke started pouring out from under the body, as i was ripping the pins out more smoke started coming out. something in the esc decided to let go and blew a hole in the side of it, there was solder everywhere and black goo and this was what i was left with. It also melted the solder holding the wires in.

So now im looking for a new esc, any suggestions?

Ill bet it was your ESC going into thermal shutdown, not the motor. they dont shut down due to heat. get a mamba max ESC and you will be set.

The shutting down you were having was the ESC going into thermal shutdown, not a problem with the motor. How many times have you thermaled it? Numerous overheats is most likely what killed the ESC.

Damn, you're in Alaska? If you can't keep it cool there you definately have a problem. You should try that down here in FL.
