| Epic handwound - soldering leads
Just got my epic handwound in from HH today. Looks great, but the endbell is definitely different from what I'm used to. I feel dumb asking, but where do you guys solder the motor leads on to? I'm guessing where the brushes are soldered, but just checking to make sure.

Yeah, you solder onto the brush tube area.....I always did it on the other side of where I soldered the brush shunt.....you definitely gotta be quick with the soldering job to not effect the brushes.... The rest of the endbell is not conductive.... Later EddieO |

As above. The only thing I will add is if you decide to go close to or on top of the brush connection be careful of how much solder you use... the lead for the brush will wick solder like mad!

You can get a soldering heatsinnk from radioshack for a few bucks.....clip it on the shunt as close to joint as you can, and it will prevent that from usually happening... Later EddieO |

Yeah, those things are a PITA to solder wires to. Once you get the hang of it its pretty easy. It took me literally 30 minutes to figure out how to wire the first motor! |

Well, luckily it didn't take me that long Thanks for the advice guys. Ended up soldering it at the top of the brush tube area, away from the brush shunt. Worked out perfectly (and the motor even runs ).
