| Engine Sounds For My Truck
I've seen videos with rc trucks and crawlers which have engine sounds that progress and change with speed. I know that Tamiya makes a fairly expensive unit (for the F350 Highlift etc.) but I want something a little different. Can anyone point me toward a system that will allow me to download specific sounds for playback as my truck drives? I guess it would need to plug into the ESC in some way(?), but I really don't know how they work. Any information would be better than what I have now. I did a search in this forum, but the terms I used may not have been right. If you know of any threads about this topic that would help, too. Thanks! Jason |

At Battlegrounds last weekend there was a scaler with a sound module that was very cool, revved with the motor and all. One of the guys in our group asked him if it was the Tamiya unit and he said it wasn't and only costed $40, I don't know where he got it but I sure wish I did.

RC4WD was working on a sound unit that had the ability to add your own sounds via expansion card (SD card, most likely) tho I don't know what happend to that. I volunteered to record the Chevy V6 sound (3.7L Trailblazer) and never got a reply back about it. Would love it for my H3. |

Here is an interesting option. They say they will install your sounds for free. http://www.modelsolutions.ca/catalog_sound_systems.htm |

Thank you for the responses and ideas. I have since found this: http://creepingdeathrc.netfirms.com/...products_id=62 I e-mailed them and they said the sounds don't have any 'tank' elements (squeaking tracks etc.) only the engine, so it looks like it will work. The price is not totally unreasonable at $75.00, so I may give it a try. Jason |

There is a thread in the CR-01 forums where a guy has one that does everything from a 4cyl to 8cyl, steam engines, etc. The thread with video is here Last edited by 860Crawler; 05-27-2010 at 09:10 AM. |

That unit looks promising. Funny thing is that even though I'm sure the unit would not sound the same way in person, the link to their engine sound seems more like an old Atari game. |
