Default one more mamba max question...

ok, so after looking at the mamba max i have, my big issues i see that the reason it is not working is becausse one of the wires for the stupid on/off switch got disconnected from the speedo. my question is:

is there anyway that is relatively easy, for someone that is electronics dumb, to take off the switch and just by-pass it all together??

Yeah, Just solder a small jumper between the two pads where the switch wires connect to the ESC printed circuit board.

If you don't want to melt the case while doing so I suggest you temporarily remove the ESC from its case for the operation. You do this by removing the 4 little socket head screws located on the heat sink.

I do this with all my ESC's. I want the battery connector to be my on/off switch....helps me avoid leaving a LiPo connected and allowing it to over-discharge by accident.

Make sure the on/off switch is on position.
- Cut the switch off
- Strip the insulation off
- Twist the wires together
- Solder them together
- Put some heat shrink on
- Done

I prefer to leave the switch on, makes it much easier to setup the speedo if you change it to a car with a different radio.

i was thinking this route. actually, i was just wondering if instead of even wiring a small jumper wire, couldn't i just pit a small dab of solder covering both points i would have to connect the jumper wire too??

That would work too. Getting solder to bridge between two pads on a resist (that's the green stuff) covered board can be a pain sometimes. Solder at your own risk, LOL!

I had the same thing happen to mine. Here's what I did...

1. Cut one wire off completely.

2. Cut the remaining wire off, but leave about 1/4" of it on the esc.

3. Remove the insulation and tin the wire.

4. Bend the wire over so its touching the solder point for the other wire.

5. Solder the wire to the other point.

Easy-peasy.

this doesn't actualy matter...its a switch, the switch itself makes the connection, or breaks it, just like a light switch.
