Default Recievers?

Okay so here's the deal, I can build links, bumpers, sliders, roof racks and most other things I can think of with metal, my problem is im electronics stupid.
I've been talking to guys at the local hobby store and im in need for some advice that dosn't contradict what the next person is going to say, Since my SCX10 was stolen out of my wifes car i've been piecing another truck together and im down to elecctronics.
I had a new freind give me a great deal on a dx3e tx with no reciever, and I need to know what reciever I need to buy, will anything 2.4 work or do I need specific brands. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

You need to stick with Spektrum brand receivers. 2.4Ghz radios/receivers from different manufacturers are not compatible. Spektrum receivers also come in two different types: DSM and DSM2. You need to get a receiver that is DSM.

This is the receiver that comes with the DX3E:

It's compatible with just about any Spektrum Surface Receiver

"Compatible with DSM2™ and the MR3000 receivers, in addition to DSM surface receivers."
