The XL-5 is a very good option... cheap but performs good.

I am running a 55t tekin, need good brakes and lipo cutoff (2s)

I am running FXR in MOA but is probably an overkill for a scaler. This is my 2nd scaler ( I am running a Rooster in our orginial) I looked at the RC4WD but it does not have a lipo cutoff. I have seen what can happen when the lipo get below cutoff voltage. Flames and smoke

Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster. A great ESC for pretty much any type of brushed motor and battery voltage. Remember, it's bushed only.

I think the HH is a great choice for a 2.2 scaler! Waterproof & no bec needed! In a 1.9, the mamba micro would be the ticket!

Had nothing but good experiences with the XL5. Very smooth low-end on a 55-turn motor, waterproof..The only thing I don't care for is the location of the power button. May be hard to get to on some scalers.

I am really liking my losi msc-12L, it's lipo ready, has a crawler specific profile that has decent brakes, and mine was priced right-free, I have a losi strike that I was having some issues with when I got it, sometimes it just wouldn't reverse or go forward until I cycled the trigger several times, called horizon and product support decided I needed a new esc, so they sent me one, didn't ask for me to return the other one, put new one in and still did it, they then told me to replace the tx batteries with alkalines and voila, problem solved. I called them the day I bought the truck after running it once with the included tx batteries, so no bashing me for that, lol. Back to the esc, it runs cool and is smooth on 2s lipo with a 65t motor. It is no fxr or sidewinder but it is another option, $50 new, ebay can net some cheap ones occasionally though. Or if someone was feeling froggy they could pick up a new stike for about $120 bind and drive and part it out, the rx is a $50 piece new, as is the esc, the rest of the parts could net you some decent money on ebay, and you end up with a free esc and 3 channel spektrum dsm rx.

I am using an mmpro but that will go to my r1 when I get it. I will either use my sidewinder or an hh torquemaster and a hh 35t in my scx10 then.
