Default TQ3 batterie voltage

Just wondering if I could switch to a small lipo batt. in my tq3, it has 8X aa batteries so i'm guessing the voltage is about 6v. Maybe a 5 cell nimh batt would do the trick.

Anyone know or try this before?

since when do 8 aa's put out as much as 5 nimh cells? 8 aa's should be around 12v so 8cell nimh/nicd or 3s lipo
