I don't know if its such a good idea to plasti dip an esc. You don't want the plasti dip on the heat sinks or any of the circuit board. I'm not sure how you would go about that.

I think a better idea would be to cover the circuit board with some sort of dielectric grease. There is a thread here where someone recommended a few different products. And then just use some clear silicone to seal up the case.

Or better yet, just make a waterproof enclosure out of some Tupperware.

Thats the prob. I was gonna use some tubberware and could not find anything on that at wal-mart. They did not have anything small enough. well I guess I will just have to do something else. I did not think the plastidip would be a good idea , but worth a try.

just put it in a ballon and zip tie the ballon around the wires and silicone the opening to the ballon. I did this to my super rooster and my tr2. both have been submerged and both work great.

Plasti-dip is ok for some stuff, i have my servos dipped. I noticed it tends to make things over heat.

I wounder how tight that pc box from radio shack is? I wounder if it will keep water out atleast from getting on my heatsink on the ESC??? If that don't work. How does the ballon do as-far as the heat goes? Thats a good idea I never though about that.

that is a cool find.

making the box waterproof would be easy. take some silicone caulking to the inside corners of the box if they are not completely sealed. then find a rubber ring for the top to squish between the lid and box. looks like you'ld have to cut a hole for wiring but that could be siliconed too.

great now i need to go to rat shack this weekend

Actually those boxes are pretty much water proof as is. I had one with an esc and rx in it once, and I tested it out by dunking it in the sink filled with water, and the inside was bone dry. You probably couldn't go scuba diving with it at 100 meters, but it's good for a dunk in the water. I just cut a hole in one side for all my wires to go, and put silicone all around it.

The Sonik4 SUPER RV the one on the bottom is 12 volts. You could make two
5 cell packs = 12v. Thats what i'm going to do. Or e-mail them and find out
whats up. Team Associated also has water proof ESC http://www.rc10.com/shusting/Catalog...lrp_frames.htm
