Default TACON 1200KV motor question

For only $25 I thought about buying two of these and hooking them up to my 2 1.9 rigs with sidewinder esc's. Has anyone used them??? If so is it a good motor? I'll be using them in 2 scx10's. I don't want them to be to fast nor do I want them to be as slow as a crawler. A little faster than stock would be cool.

Never even heard of that name, but 1200 KV is about the same speed as a 45 turn brushed motor.

Here it is.

So what would a 2230kv motor be equal to?

I have used a few Tacon brushless motors and have had good luck. Can't beat the price and performance doesn't seem to be bad. Just my exp with em. I like a 1200 to 2300kv for crawlers.

I think I'm going to get 2 of the 2230kv motors. I think the 1200kv will be to slow for me.

You do know, someone correct me if I'm wrong, that most finned motors from hk have 380 rotors inside. Personally I don't think it'll hurt due to the lower final ratio. But, it may get a little warm kinda fast.

Tacon does have two series of motors, the finned-up 380's and the full 540's.

We've been running the 540 3200kv (13.5bl equivalent) in our Slash on 2s and 3s since January and it's doing great. Not the most powerful but plenty of power and very drivable.

How does it compare to the vxl motors?
I love the kv range of the vxl and power, but the price is just a tad high for a manufaturer stock motor.
Also all the .5's are 540 and full #s 380 right?

Yeah the 1200motor has fins but the 2230kv doesn't.

The watt is a good bit higher on this one compared the the 1200.

That motor looks better, LOL. And for 25 bucks. Let us know how they are, I might get one myself. The only thing I'm curious about is the size of it. The pic with the way the wires are make it look smaller then most 540. Idk maybe it's just the iPod.

Yeah I thought it looked small to. I'm trying to get a good used sidewinder esc. As soon as I do it's on.

Well I got a mamba max esc and ordered the 2230kv motor. Should have everything to get it up and running this week. I'll test with a 2s and 3s lipo and see how she does.

LOL! I use vxl in my ax10 and it seems faster then that. I start breaking stuff when I plug in 3&4s. I use 32p gears. 9/58 so I thing 14-15/87-90 not 100% sure. I still want slower though. How's heat on that power plant?

Got it all together and I really like it on a 3s. Plenty of power and some extra speed. I also ordered 2 lipos from hobby partz. A 3s 2200 30c and a 2s 1000 20c for the winch. Here's some pics.

I'm running a 3500kv tacon in a rustler with a MMP, and I love it-plenty of power and runs fairly cool, running it on 2s geared 18/86, haven't gotten a chance to put it up against my cousins vxl rustler but it seems to run well. Even if it is a little slower than his vxl for $24 vs. $75 for the motor I am happy. Basically a clone of the castle 540 motors. My LHS owner swears by the tacon motors, says he's seen no trouble out of them in the 6+ months he's been carrying them. When funds allow I'm going to get a lower kv one and a sidewinder for my ax-10 and give it a try.
